Dr. Andrés Varela de Ugarte has already operated on four Pectus Excavatum patients through the new extrathoracic technique: the Taulinoplastia
During this month of June, Dr. Andrés Varela has performed four surgeries in Hospital Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda (Madrid): two male and two female patients suffering from Pectus Excavatum have been operated on with the Pectus Up Surgery Kit, developed by Ventura Medical Technologies.
This is the first time that this innovative surgical technique named Taulinoplastia is used in this hospital in Madrid. Dr. Bernardo Núñez, coordinator of the Pediatric Surgery Service in hospital Parc Taulí in Sabadell (Barcelona) where the first Taulinoplastia was performed, attended the Hospital Puerte de Hierro to take part in Dr. Varela’s both interventions, as well as he goes to other hospitals to train professionals having patients interested in this new technique.
In view of the good results achieved in the two first surgeries, Dr. Varela scheduled two more patients having requested a surgery with the Pectus Up for being minimally invasive and carrying a lower risk of complications.
With these four interventions, there are now six patients operated on with good results in the community of Madrid, demonstrating the trust built up by the Taulinoplastia in among the most renowned surgeons specialized in thoracic surgery.
