PRESENTACIÓ DEL PECTUS UP A LA COMUNITAT VALENCIANA

The Pectus Up Surgery Kit is introduced this fall in La Fe Hospital in Valencia and in Hospital de la Ribera, in Alcira.

Next October, the II International course of Airway and Thoracic Malformations will be held in the auditorium of the Hospital Politècnic La Fe of Valencia, organized by its Pediatric Surgery Service, specifically by the head, Dr. Juan José Vila Carbó, and by Dr. Carlos Gutiérrez San Román, together with the Asociación de Cirugía Pediátrica y Especialidades de Levante, with the support of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Surgery and the Chilean Society of Pediatric Surgery. In the course, Dr. Manuel López Paredes, pediatric surgeon specialized in Pectus Excavatum, will present the Pectus Up Surgery Kit developed by Ventura Medical Technologies.

The Pectus Up Surgery Kit is an extrathoracic implant used to fix the Pectus Excavatum with a minimally invasive approach and a substantial reduction in the risk and in the intervention time, as well as in the postoperative and recovery period of the patient, which involves a great advance in the healing of this pathology.

The presentation will be carried out by Dr. Manuel López Paredes, Head of the Pediatric Surgery Service of the Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, and ??one of the most experienced surgeons in the technique of Pectus Up, who has made several successful interventions with this implant.

Speakers include international professionals such as Dr. Donald Nuss, pediatric surgeon at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (Virgina, USA), Dr. Patricio Varela, pediatric surgeon at the Clinical Hospital Las Condes (Chile) or Dr. Michele Torre and Dr. Maria Victoria Romanini from Genoa (Italy).

On the other hand, the Pectus Up is also introduced at the Jornadas en Cirugía Torácica – La Pared torácica, on 24 and 25 September at the University Hospital of La Ribera, in Alcira (Valencia), directed by Dr. José Marcelo Galbis Carvajal, head of the Thoracic Surgery Service and  coordinator of the Respiratory Area, together with Dr. Miriam Estors Guerrero and Dr. Néstor J. Martínez Hernández.

The conference, aimed at specialists in thoracic surgery and pediatric surgery interested in the knowledge and management of the pathology and reconstruction of the chest wall, will include a live surgery with the Pectus Up Surgery Kit, which will be broadcast for all the attendees and will take place on September 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
