A BVENTURA’S PROJECT HAS BEEN SELECTED AS AN EXAMPLE OF A PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP BY ESADE AND UNIÓ FOR ITS PARTNERS PROGRAM

The BVentura’s project “Automotive and health sector joined in innovation: new device for Pectus Excavatum” has been selected as an example of public-private partnership (PPP) by ESADE and La Unió – business association of health and social institutions -, through the Observatori of PPP in health and social policies promoted by its partners program.

In 2006, BVentura conducted a new strategic plan to focus on the diversification of the group and to use the resources that had been developed by the automotive industry. After considering different sectors the company opted to move towards medical technologies. Following the strategy defined, BVentura signed a collaboration agreement with the Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí (CSPT) to co-develop a new surgical device called “Pectus Up”. This project was supported by ACC1Ó – competitiveness for the companies of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The Observatori, in its third edition, has selected Bventura’s project, which is called: “Automotive and health sector together in innovation: new device for Pectus Excavatum” as the project is in a mature state of development and has achieved the expected results for public policy programs. The project was presented by B.Ventura through its medical division “Ventura Medical
Technologies” and the CSPT.

The aim of the Observatori is to highlight good practices for partnerships between the Administration, health and social companies, businesses for goods and services and the academic field that promotes benchmarking and continuous learning.
In this type of partnership it is possible to establish an agreement based on trust and mutual respect in which all partners can bring the best of their abilities to the fore. The company provides the technical knowledge and the management skills for good product development, health centers detect and facilitate the inventive abilities of their professionals and innovation organizations advise the professionals in the formation of their ideas and guide their projects. Finally the administration creates the necessary synergies and will support the companies in their diversification strategy.

THE BENEFITS FOR THE COMPANY:

• Further diversification of the company
• Optimization of the capabilities and technological inventiveness of their professionals

THE BENEFITS FOR THE INNOVATION CENTER:

• Finding a partner in the industrial sector with enough technological capabilities to develop the idea and bring it to the market
• Attaining external financial resources

THE BENEFITS FOR THE HEALTH CENTER:

• Having a new product that will benefit the health of patients
• Reducing the medicalization of the patient and improving the efficiency of the health system
