The University Hospital Dr. José Eleuterio Gonzalez will host the debut of the Pectus Up Surgery Kit in Mexico

Next Friday, December 7, the First International Training Workshop in the technique of Pectus Up will be held in Monterrey (Mexico) for the treatment of the Pectus Excavatum condition with the presence of Professor Manuel López Paredes, Head of Pediatric Surgery in Hospital Vall d’Hebron of Barcelona, ??Spain.

The event is sponsored by the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon (UANL) and Ventura Medical Technologieswith the aim of make the new technique known as well as training any surgeons interested in a new surgical procedure for their patients affected by Pectus Excavatum.

Doctors Fernando Montes Tapia and Manuel Wong Jaen, pediatric and thoracic surgeon of the University Hospital Dr. José Eleuterio Gonzalez, in Monterrey, have been the promoters of this pioneering activity in the country.

The program of the event will consist of an in vivo demonstration carried out by Dr. Fernando Montes and by Dr. Manuel López, and a simulation of the technique in an inanimate model, perfirmed by Engineer Lluís Cassou, from Ventura Medical Technologies. The training sessions will be held in the Plastic Surgery Auditorium in the External Consultation Building of the hospital, and the assistants will be accredited by the Subdirectorate of Continuing Education and the Department of General Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine of the UANL.

Ventura Medical Technologies is a company located in the state Barcelona (Spain), dedicated to the innovation and development of projects of medical devices and surgical instruments, responsible for the development of the Pectus Up Surgery Kit, the implant used in a new less invasive surgical technique for patients suffering from Pectus Excavatum. The Pectus Up is already registered with COFEPRIS, which endorses the quality and safety guarantees that this institution demands, so the product can now be used for the treatment of the Pectus Excavatum in Mexico.

The product is currently being marketed in Europe and also in Colombia, and now Dr. Montes will introduce it in Mexico through the Dr. Eleuterio González University Hospital and the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, by performing the first surgery with the Pectus Up Surgery Kit in the country.
