Ventura Medical Technologies presented its innovative devices Pectus Up and Hyposfix, developed to improve the lives of patients with Pectus Excavatum and Hypospadias respectively, at the 6th Iberian Congress of Pediatric Surgery, held in Badajoz from May 8 to 10, 2025.
More than 250 pediatric surgeons from various countries participated in the 62nd Congress of the SECP, in its 6th Iberian edition, held jointly with the 25th Congress of the Portuguese Society of Pediatric Surgery. The event offered a unique platform for knowledge exchange, discussion of key topics, and presentation of cutting-edge surgical advances in the pediatric field.
Among the international speakers, Professor Alessandro Inserra stood out, a renowned figure in pediatric surgery and Director of the Department of General and Thoracic Surgery at the Bambino Gesù Research Institute in Rome. With a solid career and over 20 high-impact scientific publications, Inserra has significantly contributed to the development of innovative techniques.
One of his most recent contributions is the article related to the new version of Taulinoplasty, Pectus Up:
Frediani, S., et al. (2024). Case report: Modified Taulinoplasty: A new technique for minimally invasive repair of pectus excavatum. Frontiers in Surgery, 10, Article 1343515. https://doi.org/10.3389/fsurg.2023.1343515
During the pre-congress session, Prof. Inserra led a hands-on training focused on the surgical approach to Pectus Excavatum using the new generation Pectus Up technique. Over 30 specialists from hospitals in Spain and Portugal attended this session, where they were able to appreciate the simplicity of the procedure and delve into the technical details, benefiting from the direct experience of the Italian surgeon.
His participation culminated in a keynote lecture in the main auditorium, where he shared his experience in over 50 cases treated with the Pectus Up technique. He emphasized the excellent outcomes achieved, offering key recommendations to optimize the procedure, minimize complications, and improve postoperative results.
The Pectus Up method stands out for being completely extrathoracic and truly minimally invasive. This technique has generated growing interest among both experienced chest wall deformity surgeons and patients, as it offers faster recovery and less postoperative pain.
In addition, the Iberian Congress of Pediatric Surgery was the stage for the presentation of a significant innovation in pediatric urology: the Hyposfix, an innovative fixation device specifically designed for hypospadias procedures and other anterior urethral conditions. Dr. Marta de Diego, President of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Surgery and co-inventor of the Hyposfix, was present to share the benefits of this development.
The functional design of the Hyposfix allows for superior tissue stabilization and precise surgical exposure, optimizing the repair of urethral conditions and facilitating the work of the surgical team.
Throughout the event, numerous professionals visited the Ventura Medical Technologies booth to learn more about both surgical solutions, exchange experiences, and engage in discussions with experts regarding their clinical use.
Through its participation in this prestigious congress, the company reaffirms its commitment to innovation in pediatric surgery, promoting safe, effective, and minimally invasive solutions that help improve the quality of life of young patients.
We extend special thanks to the event organizers, particularly Dr. Javier Bueno, as well as Prof. Alessandro Inserra and Dr. Marta de Diego, whose dedication to continuous improvement and innovation in pediatric healthcare directly impacts the well-being of this population.
Childhood, as the most vulnerable group in society, remains at the heart of surgical innovation for these specialists committed to their comprehensive well-being.
