For several months now, this renowned group, particularly Hospital Ángeles Roma, has included the Pectus Up technique as an innovative alternative for the surgical treatment of Pectus Excavatum.

Pectus Excavatum, the most frequent congenital chest deformity, is characterized by a concave depression of the sternum, better known as sunken chest or funnel chest.

One of the most innovative treatments for fixing this deformity is the Pectus Up, an extrathoracic implant developed by Ventura Medical Technologies, which has settled up with a great acceptation in Mexico, thanks to its added value in terms of pain reduction, hospital stay and recovery time.

Dr. Daniel Munguía, a referent thoracic surgeon in Mexico, is currently the greatest expert in the Pectus Up technique. Thanks to his trust in this new procedure, the implant has strongly established itself in his country.

So much so, that the group Hospitales Ángeles has decided to incorporate the Pectus Up among his treatments. In this article, published in Salud y Vida —a publication of the group— Pectus Up stands out as an “innovative and less invasive procedure which has evolved the traditional methods used in patients with sunken chest”. (“Pectus up: nueva técnica para corregir el pecho hundido”. Salud y Vida. Hospitales Ángeles Group, February 2021).

“This is a less painful and traumatic technique, called Pectus Up, which requires less time for surgery, hospitalization and recovery, which makes it become an excellent option for patients needing this kind of treatment”, states Dr. Munguía.

With regards to patients, “most of the times their parents go to several medical specialties without finding a solution. A thoracic surgery expert can assess and fix in an accurate way the Pectus Excavatum as well as related complications”, he adds.

In Mexico, the Hospital Ángeles Roma has been the first private practice to implement this new technique in North America.

“We count on a multidisciplinary team made up of renowned experts between thoracic surgeons and anesthesiologists, cardiologists and pulmonologists, which, along the technology available in Hospitales Ángeles, makes us a group specialized in the Pectus Excavatum treatment. Always committing to improve the physical and emotional well-being of our patients”, concludes Dr. Munguía.

The Pectus Up has been consolidated in Mexico by the hand of Dr. Daniel Munguía and Nnova Mederi, official distributor of the implant in the fourteenth largest country in the world.
